Já Ísland!

Greetings everyone!

Hope everyone's summers are going well and you're all getting excited about coming to Bates and (more importantly) for AESOP!  I should warn you right now that this is my first blog post EVER (I know, I'm a little behind the times here) but we here at AESOP HQ thought it would be a great way for us to keep you updated throughout the summer, so here we go...

A little more about me: In addition to being an AESOP coordinator, I'm also a full time intern at a computer game company called CCP Games.  It's a pretty cool internship-the game they operate is an online multiplayer game, and I've landed myself in the economic analysis department,  so essentially I spend my time studying the economy that exists within this virtual world.  Plenty nerdy right?  But the really cool part about this job is that it's based in Reykjavik, Iceland.

Fresh snowfall on June 10th
So how is it that an AESOP coordinator wound up riding a desk at an Icelandic video game company?  I'm not really sure, one thing sort of led to another, and the next thing I knew I was on a plane out to the middle of the North Atlantic where I can still see snow from my window and the sun never sets (seriously on that, it hasn't been dark since I got here 3 weeks ago).

Hopefully I'll have some more stories to share in the near future, and we plan on updating this site a whole bunch with stories and pictures and even the occasional youtube video we find amusing (and borderline inappropriate for sure).  So check back often, and feel free to leave comments or post questions.  We look forward to hearing back from you!

Cheers,
  Mike
